A recent youth football concussion law (Section 33-1625, Idaho code) requires school districts at the beginning of each sports season, before a youth athlete may participate, to provide the youth’s parent or guardian the guidelines and information identifying the signs and symptoms of a concussion and head injury, and the nature and risk of these injuries.
Youth athletes are required to be removed from play immediately when a concussion is suspected, and a student athlete cannot return to play or participation before obtaining approval from a medical practitioner.
